A new assignment at Eielson AFB, Alaska (where temperatures of -50F are not uncommon) brought greater responsibility and he was placed in charge of continuing education, dental readiness, dental forensics, medical emergency training, dental radiology and oral surgery. While he was stationed in Alaska, the Air Force sent him for additional training in prosthodontics, endodontics, and operative dentistry.
